It's been 4 years since Carrie won American Idol -- she talks about her life since. * * * * * [FEB 2009]

Four years after she launched her career by winning FOX-TVs "American Idol," Carrie Underwood ended up last week back on the "Idol" stage ... sort of.

She took part in a private event that celebrated the opening of the new American Idol Experience attraction at Disneys Hollywood Studios theme park in Florida, where visitors can go through a mini-version of "Idol" and even get a leg up on the competition at tryouts for the real television show. The set for the amusement-park version is, in fact, so much like the real "Idol" stage that Carrie told USA Today it was "creepy."

Carrie sang "All-American Girl" in a concert at the opening that featured numerous ex-"Idol" participants, including last years winner, David Cook, who joined her on the Fleetwood Mac chestnut "Go Your Own Way."

In the meantime, Carrie continues to be an "Idol" favorite. Even though shes long past her contestant days, her own hits "Before He Cheats" and "Last Name" have been heard on this years show as the current crop uses them to try and impress the judges.

"I think it's awesome," Carrie told People. "When I went through, I wanted to be Kelly [Clarkson], I wanted to be Fantasia. It's just so crazy now to think, 'Oh my gosh, somebody actually wants to be me!'"

Why not? Carries the most successful artist ever to emerge from "American Idol," and her impact became even more noteworthy last week. Carrie picked up three nominations for the "44th Annual ACM Awards", including Entertainer of the Year. It makes her the first female finalist in the ACMs top category since March 2003, when the Academy announced the Dixie Chicks as contenders. The Chicks were also the last female act to actually win Entertainer in May 2001.
