@zaxellord In G1, it wasn't an atmosphere thing. It was the need to repair the damage suffered from the crash, as well as to adapt to blend in with the (apparent) local lifeforms.

@Antikaku99 In the "More Than Meets The Eye" mini-series, all the Autobots could fly. Like many TV pilots, they made some alterations for the normal series.

@AeonMagnus It could be handwaves that originally they could fly, but overtime ran out of the mcguffin that allows it due to largely being away from Cybertron where it's made, and the Decepticons had ready access too via the Space Bridge. Post movie, it could be the formula to make it was lost on Cybertron and the Decepticons hoard it to Charr.
