Automated Robotic assembly cell to install multiple attachment clips into an exterior wheel flare trim piece. The clips must be snapped into slots molded into the trim piece. There are up to 24 clips per trim piece and snap in with enough effort to pose ergonomic issues to an operator performing the task manually. The assembly cell has a two position dial table so the operator can be loading one side while the robot is assembling the other side. After the robot has finished inserting the clips, a vision system verifies the proper assembly prior to releasing the part for packing. The fixtures are quick change with plug in controls and allow the operator to switch from left, right and front, rear trim pieces. The entire assembly cell is on a single base that allows it to be moved easily within the plant without any re-programming, just connect air and power.
