Pickerings Lift Door slamming at NCP carpark in Queensway Check Out 2:28!!

Cool lift, thanks Matt for where it was :D In this video is a Traction based drive that uses Express floor selectors if you can listen clearly and also has a Evans/Type call panel and Floor indicator screws. I am not certain what brand it is.

The old door operators were totally mechanical not like todays electronic ones that can be altered for speed and closing protection with a test tool. They relied on mechanical switches to tell the controller they were open(ing) closed(ing). The knuckle switch assembley allowed the car doors to disengage from the drive motor incase it hits an obstacle on closing.

@LondonKilla I see, that speed test tool had been set on a lift door where my foot obstructed it and the door moved very slowly and extremely powerful that my hand didn't even slow it. Wen it shut it normally closed to the point of connection very lightly but it rammed it until I suppose the door knew it hit the side or the 'grass hopper would disengage :D

All landing doors have door closers either spring versions or a small weight to close landing doors. The car door cam picks up on a mechanism to open and close doors. As this is an old type of operator it has what is called a Knucle device witch disengages drive of the motor to the doors to stop closing under power on somebody. When you moved you foot away the spring tension on both door closers slams the doors shut at high speed also putting the doors back into knuckle. Proably Pickerings

@LondonKilla Ah cheers for that. This system is very rare as the older lifts would normally have used a one slab door with a supposedly basic rail system. Were the spring systems better for lifts as the common door operator would have a metal sleve and can wear away at the bearings?

@Balarick You mean the screws, I was meaning that Evans use the same screws to hold on the display pannel and this old one has the Express/ Bennie floor indicator with Evans screws hehe. Otherwise, it functions just like the other lamp lit indicators :D

The motor continues it cycle to close and when the controller saw the doors were not shut after a predetermined time they would recycle i.e open allow the mechanism to re engage itself. Cause you let go when the doors are fully open out of knuckle the springs on the landing doors pull the doors shut as they are not in knuckle. Door closers are for safety purposes. Even though fitted on all new installation and most older jobs they dont always close the door fully due to wear on doors :-)
