God thid brings back memories. In 1973, I was attending a small college in the San Joaquin Valley. Woody Hermann and His Young Thundering Herd came through for an evening's performance. I was part of the stage crew and had never heard live big band. There is nothing like it. I saw many rock performances (like the Stones at the Cow Palace in '75) but nothing is quite like that many live horns. Every generation has good music, if the heart is in it.

I agree with you Josh Nixon, I have such rememberances like this too, due to the fact my own grand-dad played in a jazz band (trumpet) and made me love music of the good old days.

My great grandfather died in 2001 and served in WWII in the Army Air corps. When he would come home on lea ve, he and my Great grandmother would take to the dance halls and listen to songs like this. I never knew him well since he died when i was 7, My great grandmother passed in 2008 after a long battle with dementia. if you have relative of the WWII generation, talk to them now, their wisdom and stories will be lost forever if we don't pass them on.

Read 11/22/63 and this song won't let you go!!! It plays over & over in your mind....Great song and great book too, must love your history to enjoy :-) plus the Glenn Miller story is a wonderful movie!!
