Made this about a year ago. Took me a long time. Mostly because I was learning about how to design things. By the end I had so many band-aids I decided to retire it =P

The animation wasn't too hard to do, but was pretty time consuming. That's mostly why I'm not doing animated sprites on my current project. I'm more concerned about the gameplay and design.

The level editor I made lets you toss things in the background/foreground and select where enemies will spawn. You can also set what level the enemy will spawn at.

Looking back. I really don't like how the characters jump. I'm sure I'd do a much better job now =)

SDL wasn't the problem, but I found what I was looking for, thanks anyway. :)

Data Structures and Algorithms for Game Developers by Allen Sherrod was it BTW.

I'm not sure how much you already know but I started reading tutorials online. One of my favorite sites was lazyfoo.net

Practice, practice, practice...try to remake something like pong or tetris. It probably wont be perfect your first try, but you'll run into problems and work through them. You'll quickly figure out a little planning goes a long ways.Sorry I have such a generic answer, but that question is huge. Just keep learning/practicing
