    He is correct that there are only a about 5 companies worldwide that produces transformers, sadly the U.S. based ones have offshored the work. Yes, while what you see on t.v. of power companies putting up new transformers are true, what you see is transformers pulled from stockpile. They have hundreds of them in their laydown yards spread around the country. But if an even like this were to happen, hundreds of thousands of transformers would be needed in the U.S. alone. That is the problem.

    Yes, thank you. I was expecting it to be a Knowing style earth gets burnt. And while the power grid would take a beating it wouldn't be completely "knocked out" all over the globe. But it would set back somewhere a year or two for sure. Nothing that'd end the world but Wisconsin and Canada might be without internet for a year or two.
