"Donna Lee" gets my vote for "best bop melody ever"; the perfect combination of inside and outside note choices, crafted by the great Charlie Parker. This is my most ambitious fingerstyle arrangement in years...still in the formative stages, but I thought I'd share it today. First run through is, of necessity, carefully arranged. Second runthrough is, in the jazz tradition, improvised. Played on the Miller guitar

  • OHMYGOSH!! Ambitious to say the LEAST!! That's incredible, Rolly. What a great tune and an awesome job.......your formative stage is better than most people's polished and finished stage!! :-)

  • Great job, Rolly. I have been working on this tune for a few years now and am always learning new ways to mess it up. A classic!

  • Excellent, this is not a song I would've considered trying to play as a solo piece, the melody is very tricky, good job! Certainly is one of the best bop melodies!
