Definitely NOT "Hen of The Woods". those grow on the ground or at the VERY bottom base of the tree. Those are higher on the tree and look like old "Chicken of the Woods to me.
Looks like one of the hen of the woods' lookalikes, namely, the black-staining polypore. Edible but apparently not as good as the real hen of the woods (I have only tried the real one, so I can not judge).

its an old chicken of the woods, hen of the woods (maitake) grows at the base of the tree. Go back to that tree next year!
