My name is Clayton Finlayson and I'm a freshman music major at Georgia State University. I have been playing for about 7 years. I have marched 2 years at Alliance Drum & Bugle Corps and marching Carolina Crown has been something I've wanted to do ever since I began marching.

No I did not step off with my right foot, this was recorded on a Mac laptop. Any feedback is well appreciated. Thank you so much! I'm very excited to pursue this opportunity.

  • What is the name of the first song you played?

  • @ramprider44 It's the Allegro section of Rustiques by Eugene Bozza.

  • Your solos were great as well! If you don't mind my asking, what part and team did Matt and Chad put you on?

  • @jerrygoodnght Thanks for the feedback! It was pretty cold outside actually so that kinda affected me a little. lol And Matt put me on cream team and on lead. :)

  • @CCrown211 Yeah. My problem was that the room we have that is open for stuff where you need this kind of space is our hall, which is VERY responsive so it echos like crazy. And my computer mic doesn't help that. Haha! And Matt also put me on cream team and lead. It's good to put a name with a face! Haha. I'll definitely be looking for you at camp, man!

  • I like the theme from Fantasie Brilliante :)

  • Great job! (I saw this as a suggestion after looking at comments on my audition tape! Haha!) I agree with your other commentor in that the music became shaky with slides, but some of that is to be expected, and if you're like me, I'm sure nerves were some part of it, as well as the camera and mic on the computer. Nice hand movements on the horns up (something I'm sure they look for but don't mention!)

  • The only critique I have is that when you were sliding and playing, your tone was a bit shaky. Your marching was very strong though and your direction changes were crisp. Your prepared pieces were absolutely amazing! Overall I don't see why you wouldn't make it. BEst of luck to you Clayton :)
