Could have been said better once in 30 seconds. I find the diatribe approach very confusing. Basically, if the computer where you are doing the install isn't going to provide data to other network computers, use the one user setting. Saying that ten times confuses the issue.

Great explanation. But I need to echo the comments of Aphroditecrc. Paul is only talking installation here, not how many licenses or seats on a license one needs to be compliant with the licnese policy. Basically, I can install QB on my desktop and laptop usoing one license. As soon as another sits down at my desktop and uses QB, I need to buy an additional seat. But good Job Paul in diluting best practice of installing QB in MU setup. Unless I need to host or at the server, always choose 1 user

Keep in mind this is for installation not in regards to licensing. If more than one person will be accessing QuickBooks from more than one computer they need a license to use QuickBooks. It does not matter if they will be using it simultaneously - they still need a license to use it.

This is helpful and informative. Someone should explain it to the customer service reps on the registration line, though, because they are always telling my clients that the need to purchase a multi-user license just because more than one person in the company may perform data entry on the single installation.
