General Strike: Occupy protesters shut down Port of Oakland

Over 10,000 Occupy Wall Street protesters have shut down the port of Oakland in California. It follows a violent police crackdown there when police stormed the demonstrators' staging ground last week. A former US Marine suffered a fractured skull when he was hit by a projectile when police tried to clear a protest camp in central Oakland. News that a veteran had allegedly been injured by police brought even more protesters onto the street. RT's Lucy Kafanov has the latest from Oakland.

@SkillGrip I'm no occupier, but you really don't get it, and this is one of the many reasons this movement is having so much trouble getting somewhere. Too many premature revolutionaries that all want to start the revolution by themselves & over night.

They called the national guard for the second port shutdown, the establishment wants us to prematurely jump the gun, don't give them what they want.

We've done it again...December 12, 3012 from morning to and through the night. I need an update to know if they succeeded again this morning too. I was there on both shut downs. Yesterday Occupy Oakland began it's occupy in the early morning hours...lasting through the night. The presence of the cops...nil, they honored the port steward who closed the port.
