you can use traktor if:
1) your not a dj
2) you dont have a controller..
I know where your coming from here about softwares and people fighting over them.. theres a production software called fl studio that has a horrible reputation untill people realise its the user not the program..and just to rub it in i tell them avicii, afrojack deadmau5 etc uses it too ;)

i agree about too many people grabbing the free version and m,agically becoming djs. BUT now that serato dj intro is available and free most companies that make controller that include virtual dj are no longer including it they are switching to serato dj intro, for instance the numark mixtrack pro no longer includes virtual dj le it comes with serato. I dont see this virtual dj thing lasting too long.

@MegaBitfreak As a mobile DJ you just want something that works and does the job with out a fuss!!! Thanks for the comment

I have a 7300Watt sound system with loads of lighting and lasers and throw a pretty mean party but the last thing I need is after having set all that equipment up (and there never seems to be enough time to do it propperly), is to have to try and figure out why in hells name the mapping between my controller and the Tractor version that was customised for it, suddenly doesn't work, less even why I have to set up my audio devices all over again. VDJ takes all those headaches away..... :-) Love it

@octaquan, You just ruined VDJ's reputation for good comparing it to MS Office...Thank God you didn't compare it to Windows....lol
Seriously though, GREAT video man, I agree 100%. I do mobile DJing and VDJ suits me perfectly. I had mapping and sound card issues with Tractor LE that came with my Mixtrack Pro and solved it all by removing Tractor and installing Virtual DJ Pro. Now I'm looking at the American Audio VMS4.1 but will keep Virtual DJ Pro as it's easy to use & works every time.

Well for beginners they should vdj free and for pros vdj pro full or scratch live

I have traktor and virtual dj are awsome I have vdj pro 7 and it's pretty good for mixing

@JLDJUK The bit I find difficult is where to put in a song at a break etc.
Virtual DJ just looks cheap :p even the 'pro' version :)
and I think the engineers put a lot more time and effort in Traktor and/or Serato
than on VDj..
though for beginners it is quite good.

@32Digits Who cares what it looks like. Its you who is using it. How do you deduce that the enginers put more time into the other software. Its just the skin not any of the coding in the program. Looks arn't everything. For example Serato may look better but it is sooo much more intensive on the CPU. You need a really good computer to run it reliably.

How did you start mixing?
Did you just play around with VDJ until you could start doing it?
I use the genius function on itunes to find the right songs that will mix together

@DMX820 I started off with Duel CD players and learned to mix on that. I wasn't very good but I could beat match two songs. Then I got my SD player which was responsive enough to mix properly!!! My CD player had a good second lag when you pressed play till the song started. And now i have the mixtrack pro as well so I am mixing on that :)
