Old Foster in Dentdale

These are singers from the Lakeland Voice Folk Carols weekend in December 2009 singing with the Cautley Carollers in Dentdale woods besides Deepdale beck - Judith bush is the one in the middle! Every year we meet in Dentdale for concerts and workshops and a singing walk through the valley singing by waterfalls - and more recently at the home of Lord and Lady Johnson at Whernside Manor. This version of While Shepherds Watched is called Old Foster after the 18th century Sheffield composer John Foster. It is very popular in the pubs in villages surrounding Sheffield where it is sung with great gusto throughout December. (This video was filmed by Peter Howe.)
