  • Is there a brace of some kind placed over the tank, inder that tarp..?

Has he REALLY been standing on the top of the aqurium thrughout this whole episode ? ! Is this a glas or acrylic tank, Jim..?

  • hey J, this is an acrylic tank, and most acrylic tanks have a solid top panel, for structural integrity, with the openings cut out. If you watch part 6 you will get a better idea of the top of the tank, and yes he has been standing on the top of the tank.

  • Not enjoying Scott's amateur hour episodes. Not your best Jim. Learned to avoid guys like this in the aquaculture business.

  • hey K, not sure why you think you can make these type of suggestions or comments. not only is this not Scotts Amatuer Hour but he is not in the aquaculture buisiness. additionally, I think the information contained is extremely good and timely.... and I learned quite a bit myself. thanks for your opinion Knucklehead, good bye!

  • I love this stuff man! It is so real, we all know that no matter how well we plan, shit always happens. On HGTV or other tv shows, they always show everything working out perfectly and that's just not reality. Can't wait to see this project come together!

  • @lafishguy Do not listen to that KNUCKLEHEAD comment, I make complete costum led lights and I am an `amateur` in aquariums xD

Scotts tank is by the way one of the biggest in the show, with the nicest budget anyway!

  • @kerpow1622 I am nothing more than a hobbiest who has been into salt water aquariums for 20+ years. Many years back I was into sharks which I was importing and managed to sell some to places like the Mirage in Vegas. Beyond that, I guess you could call me an amature who aspires to do things right. I am willing to share my ideas, success and failures so people can learn something. It happens that Jim and LA Fish Guys are a good venue for that, Sorry you didn't appreciate or learn from this. .

  • @helicrashpro The cable is 1/8 inch stainless cable. It was the smallest cable I could find the appropriate sleeve crimps and pulleys for without digging too much. As it was finding decent pulleys that were not too expensive was a pain. The cable is also readily available from local suppliers so it was kind of a path of least resistance. Overkill yes, but it will last for ever.

  • Wow, that cable is holy shit over kill. Why did he use such heavy cable. That stuff would hold up a car.

  • Rock on, Jim. It was a good episode.

  • @merrpow 1622 Scotts tank is awesome..and maybe you should look at what all Scott has done in the fish business before you go judging..I do believe that tank housed sharks before that he sold to aquariums...another good video Jim
