A tribute to American pilots who served in Vietnam. I made this using the show "Dogfights". Great show by the way...

rdv: sure some were shot down; however, you don't inhibit the air war and most of the MiGs never make it off the ground. Further, try and picture the MiG-17, 19, and 21s flying to South Vietnam and establishing Air Superiority. Simply aint gonna happen. Limited range of these platforms compromises any chance of establishing air superiority.

The F-4 Phantom II was a good dogfighter and ground-attack aircraft, in fact a very good airplane, and very popular with air crews, and in the 1960s and early 1970s it was in performance and in technology better than most Soviet or Chinese aircraft, but it still didn't win the U.S. the war in Vietnam. Some F4s over the Democratic Republic of Vietnam [No. Vietnam] where shot down by MiG-17s, which is no mean feat for such an inferior airplane to shoot down such a much better airplane.
