  • great lapping!!

  • thank you. I have a long way to go. I find that I am usually in the upper 3/4's of the intermediate level guys, which is usually a mixed group as far as experience and skill level go. I am still surprised at what this Mazda is capable of.

  • are you running a stock map?

  • I believe for this clip I had Cobb AP installed, running a beta map. My speeds on the main straight were actually down by 4 or 5mph from the OEM map so I don't think this Cobb map was a very good!

  • Thanks for posting the video! I'm the guy in the red Carrera S.

  • You're welcome. Very nice car!

  • I talked to the guy in the red Carrera S afterwards and he had a GPS system which logs all of his track times, it was pretty neat. He tracks his car pretty often though, so it's worth it for him. I think I'll spend my money on driver education first.

Actually, I was really surprised at how mentally fatiguing track work can be, by Sunday's last session I found it hard to concentrate lol...anyways I'll definitely be back at TWS. All the best with your new family addition!

  • It's harder than it seems to be consistent. I have a long way to go. I seem to be more consistent in doing the wrong thing ;) Watching my clips is painful because I can see where I keep making the same mistakes. But I can use that as a learning experience.

The R32 would be a great companion for track days. Love those. More forgiving and it should be easier to push to it's limits.

I'm hooked on track days now as well. I want to do time trials eventually. Like track days but with timers on.

  • Yeah, you're right on the money about consistency. I started off in the blue group for the first time at the last TWS outing and my instructor told me my biggest problem was consistency (among a host of other things since I'm a total novice haha). I think the Porsche is a little much for me at the moment, so I'm probably going to bring my VW Mk 5 R32 to the track in January instead- AWD and less horsepower will make it easier for me to learn. I think I'm addicted to these track events now!

  • Oh and I LOVE your car! Wonderful machine.
