  • Congrats on the 300 again. You deserve way more!

  • Thanks!

  • Does it make a difference with customers by wearing your name on your shirt? I wear bright orange when I work, cars like to run me over.

I agree, failure to admit you are wrong will keep you stagnant. But never admit you are wrong to assholes.

  • Since my name is in the company name I like to show my customers that they are working with the owner. Therefore they will want to work with us more, they will feel well taken care of, and they will show me more respect.

  • Favorite just because my brother DReaver13 got mentioned in this haha~

  • Fear of what others might think of your philosophy and how they will assess you?

I share the same sentiments. But at a stage, I said fuck it. Let's throw my ideas out there, And who cares if a bunch of pseudo intellectuals won't agree with oyur view points. It doesn't make them right necessarily.

  • Youtube community is "A typical Hollywood audience - All the kids run around drunk and all the adults are on roller skates" Monty Python.

So close mindedness should be expected.

  • I feel like I could have made this. Everything you said was already in my head.

Asking questions about personally held beliefs is a sign of integrity. Truth being more important then the discomfort of find out you are wrong.

Also used to be a Christian Republican, so.. score one for determinism. :/

  • I won't post a YouTube video talking about an idea unless I'm pretty well convinced of it. I don't like the idea of having an inconsistent philosophy posted over the internet for people to be able to point at. But as hard as I've tried to retain a consistent philosophy my opinions have changed since I started posting about 6 months ago.

So maybe I should loosen up a bit.

  • I think the search for truth should be impersonal. It's not really "my" or "your" ideas, but simply ideas that we have "discovered". So it doesn't make sense to get egotistical during a debate; rather we should treat ideas like scientists treat lab experiments.

  • [2] When trying to understand why things are the way they are, I think taking an evolutionary perspective of the world, humanity, and ideas can be extremely useful. With this mindset, it is easier for me to see through the free will/determinism controversy.

On experimental philosophy: Yeah, I totally share your views. Beautiful. I have a bunch of ideas I'd love to share, but I still can't quite beat the fear.

  • [1]Anger and compassion: I'm also struggling with this. Especially regarding children. I'm paralyzed when I see a parent verbally and/or physically abusing children in a manner that is socially acceptable. I see this almost every day. :(

Free will: I think determinism seems to be true because we, as pattern seeking entities, couldn't understand non-determinism even if it existed. In either case, my view is that choices exist, but they're deterministically caused.
