@mbarry6 I'll have one up soon, still building my CNC here and have a couple more parts being made in New York. The lathe is running 40 amps with a 1.0 mil stylus. The thing ran over my finger yesterday but didn't hurt.

Hi, the problem is most probably the material of the CD. It's just too hard to allow good treble. I guess with proper Vinyl the result would be different.

@idiotcomic Mine did that too. I had to remove a few things from the inside of it, so it wouldn't return. its hard to find a good record player that doesn't do that.

I found a nice solution to the audio quality by using DVD media. The material is slightly different. I made a CNC out of my Gemini SA 600 that has a 1/4" electro-mag with 4 Neodymium Magnets per channel aimed at the stylus at 45 degrees each. Wrapping loops of Nichrome wire around the stylus to heat it during cutting takes most of the hiss out too. I'm cutting 5 minutes stereo per disc using a 1 micron Neumann stylus at 166.665 revolutions over 5 minutes.
