horse rescue story part 1

This is the begining of a video I am doing about our family's new horse Old Man. He was picked up by animal control after the men working at the county landfill found him on a September 2009 morning. His owner said the emaciated and lame horse had broke out of the fence and wandered off. Well that is between him and his maker. This horse with an abcessed rear foot and body score of 1, did not have the strength to walk let alone escape from his barren pasture.
Thankfully, the animal control officer new the right person to take the pitiful creature to for rescue. She had the vet come out to asess him. He had a very bad parasite infestation, absessed hoof, severe rain-rot covering his entire body, and the obvious lack of groceries for the last six months to a year, giving him a body score of 1. The vet said he might have to be put down, she would advise giving him until the first of november, if he lives that long.
