Jean-Luc Godard's subversive foray into commercial filmmaking is a star-studded Cinemascope epic. Contempt (Le Mépris) stars Michel Piccoli as a screenwriter torn between the demands of a proud European director (played by legendary director Fritz Lang), a crude and arrogant American producer (Jack Palance), and his disillusioned wife, Camille (Brigitte Bardot), as he attempts to doctor the script for a new film version of The Odyssey.

  • what a beautifully shot movie. As much as I hated that producer, I think I despised Paul just as much as Camille did. He was such a coward and an idiot. That's something one should never do, feed their wife to the wolves, and then wonder why she doesn't love him anymore.

  • This was wonderful. Thank you so much for uploading. :)

  • @bobbieheller I feel slightly insulted by your comment. I don't claim to be a Godard scholar. I said it cuz it's what I understood, not what I read somewhere. I'd have to watch again to see how she reacts to his writing style becoming more mainstream. What I gathered is that he attempts to regain her respect by acting "the pure artist" in breaking the contract and refusing to write anymore for the film.

  • @Khamomil even if he did it for that she is being such a whiny brat that theyd be even
