A Merry Christmas to everyone! (Even if it is 14 days early :p )
I made a plan last night to get up early to do some preparations, and have all the Christmas stuff up and decorated by the time anyone got home.. Well, before the plan could even be set into motion, a revelation - - Mom doesn't work today! GAHHHHHHHHH, well there went that idea. Coupled with the fact she pretty much guessed what I had planned, pretty well spoiled the whole surprise element, but I still had fun putting everything up. The music was an idea I had while I was putting up the tree.. Hope you like it :-) The music is by http://www.youtube.com/mohdfikree -- He makes fantastic music, I highly recommend.
Editing the video was a different story. I am really starting to hate Windows Movie Maker.. I need something better. Something that won't lock up and DIE at the very notion that you're about to do something important... Like save the project... Oh, and that's not really even the worst of it..
So I actually started getting stuff arranged around 9:30 this morning... Everything was going smooth, I had the tree up, lit, decorated.. Went back to the camera to end the session, and what do I get?? "Memory Card Error" .. I wanted to cry. That was a full hour's worth of time-lapse, destroyed by a faulty memory card... But, there are reasons I keep spares around.. So I pretty much did everything with the tree seen in this video, TWICE. Yes, I took everything down.. And did it all over again, checking and double-checking the camera every time I finished with a certain part of the task... My Sandisk 4GB SDHC memory card held up, made me a happy person again. I can't really trust the Kingston 4GB SDHC card anymore.. It failed once, it's bound to do so again.
But all in all, I had fun putting everything up, I've done it every year since 2005 now.. Seems no one else in this house gets the motivation to put some light to the darkness of the winter, to show that Christmas cheer. I even put the lights up on the outside of the house back in August when the snow hadn't quite gotten here yet... Was I helped? Nawwww... And sometimes? I think I like it better that way.
Christmas is my favorite time of year, despite the cold and the snow. I love it because it's usually when everyone gets a chance to be with their family, a time that everyone can enjoy. A time to rejoice, and love what you have, rather than dwell on what you don't.
I want everyone to enjoy their Christmastime, have a Happy New Year, and start it off with a smile, knowing that no matter how bad things may seem, it always gets better.
awesome video man! 5 stars and Favorited.
I love Christmas! :D
