when i heard these were cold hardy i thought yeah yeah yeah w/e, but yeah i had chard in my garden up till new years eve ( in good ol' cold as hell Michigan) even then it didn't die, i pulled it up. heck i even had a chard plant i pulled up a few months ago growing in a bucket of of ice water these guys are tough little shits! i cant wait to grow these again

Does chard need to have plastic around it in winter or will it be OK left as is?

That's so true! I planted chards in the early winter and they didn't sprout until late spring one year later. So they had a mind of their own. And usually the aphids get to all of my veggies but not the chards!!! That's so cool! And they're absolutely delicious and easy to grow. They grew like weeds!
