Boasting a the lowest drag coefficient of any car tested in the GM wind tunnel or at the Chrysler Proving Grounds, this innovative Very Light Car demonstrated over 100 MPGe on the test track under stringent testing conditions using a highly innovative 250cc turbocharged fuel injected single-cylinder engine fueled by E85. It requires only 8 pounds of force to push this vehicle. More like an airplane than a car, the Edison2 uses highly innovative light-weight, low mass hub-mounted suspension for its aerodynamically flared four wheels contributing to its sports car-like handling and braking. Its low total mass of 830 pounds is a tribute of engineering strength and packaging utility.

  • Shale gas and oil deposits found in the UK,Western Europe and USA combined with technology like this, could make us independent of the OPEC block in 10 years.

  • @chroniclerofthe70s

I think we say the same thing in a different way.

light weight car = lower inertia = less energy in case of impact = safety

    BUT

light weight car VS. heavy car in case of an impact = less safety (for the light weight car).

    This is what I mean.

  • @OghamTheBold Thats only true if a lighter car comes to a sudden stop where the heavier vehicles imparts large quantity of force to the human body causing internal injuries. If a driver or passenger in a large SUV or truck traveling at high velocities comes to a sudden stop , the internal organs and brain will collide with their body's skeletal structure causing severe injury to the brain or internal organs.

  • @DRAGONRFORMULA Light weight vehicles = safety. Its large quantity of forces impacting the human body or very rapid deceleration that causes severe injury.

  • @chroniclerofthe70s

So "light weight car = lack of safety" because of this energy transfer (unfortunately).

  • the best thing would be to use this to build a large car that's lighter. mpg should not trump comfort of ride or seating.

  • @DBSpy1 tesla sucks

  • weight and safety, look at F1 and indy cars, light weight and safer then any production car.

  • I love this car,its great as is.

  • @OghamTheBold A very light weight vehicle = safety. A large weight vehicle will transfer the energy of collision into the other vehicle causing it to change its direction and velocity. The severe injuries result due rapid deceleration of the human body in a high velocity head on collision. The central nervous system is injured, and thorasic organs are damaged upon impact with the internal cavity wall of the body. Thus, suddenly stopping after traveling at high velocities is often lethal.
