  • the transmission on the 1985-19891986-2004 in Colombia Mazda 323/ Ford Tonic

    Transmission

    3-speed automatic

    4 or 5-speed manual

  • I had 323 1.5 XG-S luxurious inside and elegance.

  • These were excellent cars, unfairly overlooked in favor of a lot of the competition. I feel like Mazda's cars were designed with Europe in mind as much as the US, and with that in mind, it's easy to see why they were so plainly styled and somewhat sparsely equipped, despite having fuel injection earlier than their Japanese counterparts (also like European cars). Unlike the Michigan built Mazdas, the 323/Protege's reliability has always been top notch.

  • the 1985-1989 Mazda 323 was assembled in

    Hiroshima, Japan

    Hofu, Japan

    Bogotá, Colombia

    Silverton, South Africa

    Rayong, Thailand

  • Hey I still have one. An '89, same color as the video. Mazda 323's took WRC 1st place in 3 years back then. Their 323 GTX's are no joke and beat the "big name" car companies out there. My 89 is reliable but is one of 4 cars I have. My 89 is a 5-speed and is fun to drive econo box which I would prefer over any other econo box from 1989. Long Live The Econobox!!!!!!

  • what an ugly car, and Mazda isn't spelt Marrzda lol

  • Wonder if James Garner bought 1?

  • Seriously, we had some ugly ass small cars back then.

  • He was better when he was driving the gold Firebird Esprit.

  • The one I liked of that generation 323 was the rare cabriolet version (generally available on the Japan market, and also available as a rebadged Ford Laser) - the thing being was that it was not a conversion, being built that way at the factory.
