this weeks topic by Krista:We all know there are 'groups' within the T
community such as crossdressers, transvestites, gender impersonators,
etc... but this topic deals with Transsexuals specifically. Do you
believe that there are varying degrees of transsexualism? In other
words, does a person who elects to not have SRS (permanently or just
temporarily) but still lives fulltime in their chosen gender
considered to not be a "true" transsexual?

  • hi tara, you are lovely. having just finished watching all of your personal videos - i'm in love - joking just a bit. seriously though, why are your TrannystarGalactica videos of superior quality to your personal ones?

  • Interesting, your point about how transgender is defined in a medical way and how that affects how it is then perceived more widely. It's kind of scary how many of the rules, laws, policies, behaviours etc in society rely upon being able to place people in a recognisable category and how uncomfortable official processes become when this is not possible. I know categorising is something the brain likes to do, but surely we should be able to stop and know when it isn't useful/beneficial/fair.

  • I have seen people that reach surgery stage, sit in a bed the night before the operation, turn and walk out the door again, does this mean that they are not transgendered, no, they are unsure of themselves, in other words they are not prepared (for whatever reasons) to give up that part of themselves that makes you female or male entirely, I think if you have to think about whether you are male or female, you have serious issues that need to be addressed with a gender therapist!

  • Great video. I love that you decided to film your video where you did. Awesome!

  • Hi Tara, i always look forward to your videos, fantastic and very well said.

  • great video x

  • Great Vid!

  • I should do one where I put on my ultra posh 1950s BBC presenter accent!

  • Excellent video. I completely agree, we all have different thoughts on what makes us who we are...and for some people they do not feel the need to have surgery.

  • It doesnt exactly determine weather you have the "right" to certain surgeries but the predominant medical opinion on various topics and issues can be very heavily influanced by it. The BMA is a place where lots of high falutin' Doctors will gather and be all highfalutin' :)
