A video of Fish in my pond, I think they are Koi Carp Goldfish
We started off with about 7 or 8 a few years ago, now they've bred and theres around 70 of them!

The big ones are quite daring and will try to swim over the thick growth to look for food

  • Awesome. Do they do alright in water like that? I ask because my mom stocked her little 80 gal. pond with over a dozen goldfish + a dozen minnows, and only 2 or 3 remain 8 months later... they seem to be doing alright, but gawd, can the nitrogen cycle and bacteria take care of that many dead bodies? The water is about as murky and algae-y as yours. All that have been living in the pond for the past 10 years is frogs and orchids.

  • hi there, best thing for the pond is to have as many oxygenating plants in the water as possbile, A good filter will also help. Where I stay, it rains very often, so the fresh water also helps. Good luck

  • @hirocaster I am not an expert by any means. You are right about algae lowering oxygen levels. I saw another youtube video where award winning koi fish are kept on a holding farm to overwinter somewhere in New Jersey of all places. And some of the fish were worth thousands of dollars... that lake/pond looks similar to this.

  • @wonderboy2402 Yes, they do like green water, algae water, but this decrease oxygen levels, this pond don't look like plenty of oxygen, that plants look rotten, definitly not a healthy look pond. But if you say the kois are happy...

  • @hirocaster Why? I looked at some koi ponds, and it sounds like they do the best is green and muddy waters... The owner has lots of plants and all the fish look fat and happy.

  • i feel sorry for them
