This is part 1 of 10 of the film "Occupation101"
p.s.: The movies in this channel are rated (R) by American media outlets for scenes of extensive exposure to the truth!
A thought-provoking and powerful documentary film on the current and historical root causes of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Unlike any other film ever produced on the conflict -- 'Occupation 101' presents a comprehensive analysis of the facts and hidden truths surrounding the never ending controversy and dispels many of its long-perceived myths and misconceptions.
The film also details life under Israeli military rule, the role of the United States in the conflict, and the major obstacles that stand in the way of a lasting and viable peace. The roots of the conflict are explained through first-hand on-the-ground experiences from leading Middle East scholars, peace activists, journalists, religious leaders and humanitarian workers whose voices have too often been suppressed in American media outlets.
The film covers a wide range of topics -- which include -- the first wave of Jewish immigration from Europe in the 1880's, the 1920 tensions, the 1948 war, the 1967 war, the first Intifada of 1987, the Oslo Peace Process, Settlement expansion, the role of the United States Government, the second Intifada of 2000, the separation barrier and the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, as well as many heart wrenching testimonials from victims of this tragedy.

It is just one side of the story, I would love to see a pro-Zionist Israeli film discussing the occupation of Gaza, the West Bank and the Golan Heights, but Israel is oddly silent when it comes to the occupation unless they are discussing attacks from the occupied territories.

This film is most certainly biased, with artistic outlets such as documentaries it is impossible not to be, however the claims made in the film are no less valid because they push an agenda. Like all things in the world nothing is without purpose, the purpose of this film, I think, is to shock non-believers into inquiry. While perhaps it can serve to reinforce "weak-minded leftist" ideas the claims are valid.

Someone of your erudition must surely have noticed that it is not uncommon for some people to post their kneejerk reactions to videos that cover subjects they have, at best, only a passing familiarity with. You know the type; they only pull their heads out of their asses long enough to watch tractor pulls on TSN, maybe post a ridiculous comment or two on youtube...
My apologies if it seemed I was casting aspersions in my initial comment. I should have known you're not like those others.

I have to ask, Mr. Decimuslunius, as you undoubtedly have more friends living in Israel than I do, what is your source of information? Have you been to Palestine? (I haven't.) Are you planning to vist there anytime soon? (I'm not, but I'd consider it.)
Are the Israelis not guilty of egregious violations of human rights in the Gaza Strip?
I'm guessing, given your commentary, that you must have watched the video in its entirety before weighing in with your educated opinion.

What are you specific critiques of this video? Is the information contained therein inaccurate? If so, in what way? Perhaps your history books are different than mine. I've been of the impression that the Irgun and the Stern gangs were terrorist groups, what with their killing of civilians and all. And it's only in recent weeks that I've familiarized myself with groups like Rabbis for Human Rights and other Jewish and Israeli pro-Palestinian/ pro-human rights groups. Are all of them wrong, too?

Alright, my learned friend, allow me to defend this video. I've taken time to look up a number of the people interviewed in this video, and I've taken time to review some of their essays and so forth. I will admit that this documentary, like many others, has a slant. I find it a refreshing change from the pro-Zionist slant in my daily newspaper. That said, I have to ask, are you arguing that there is no oppression of Palestinians in Gaza? Are you suggesting that the footage is fake?

The only knowledge I'm secure in is that this video is a load of crap, with a political agenda; it doesn't seek to inform. It seeks to preach to the choir and insure that their outrage stays ginned up. In that way, it's really no different from talk radio or Fox News.
But it's funny to me that, instead of defending the video, you try to cast aspersions on me. That's because you know very well that the video is a piece of garbage.

You can go back to your Rush Limbaugh and Faux News secure in the knowledge that you're way more intelligent than everybody else.
p.s. The earth is round.
