This is the dirtiest, funkiest, tightest, harshest, most gutteral go-for-broke, whiskey-and-cigarettes voice I've ever heard come out of Richard... or anyone period. Fucking amazing.... I truly wish I was born with this God-given talent. To think, this was before they even became The Band!

I really do miss Richard.

Richard Manuel was the true soul of the group . Just listen to the commitment of his blues style on this track. The road took him from us . I miss his voice . That's why I got out early . I will always appreciate funk and blues .

Such great voice! No one else compares that I can think of except maybe the young Stevie Winwood (Gimme Some Lovin').
