The Provisional IRA are a branch of the Irish Intelligence Committee. The Official IRA was gonna start a class war, taking on the banksters, businessmen and politicians. The Irish Governments informers in the Officials (McStiofain, O' Connell, O'Braidagh) got wind of this and told their bosses in the Dail. They were told go break away and form their own IRA which the southern establishment would finance and arm, (Arms Trial). Then wage a Nationalist war hoping to cause the Officials to fade away
