  • @dandslash It looks like the brand "Vintage "

  • Whats the guitar you are using dude ? Sounds nice

  • @KHGuitarFreak1988

Thanks for your thoughts on this, it's very helpful!

  • @chymist66 This Laney also has amazingly nice, sweet and full clean, which the other don't. This amp is a killer.

  • @chymist66 Oh, and if you haven't tried it out yet, take a patch cable and jumper the loop. The amp will sound bigger and clearer that way...

  • @chymist66 Build quality IMO surpasses the other two you've mentioned. Features are good. Nice clean channel, but even better lead channel IMO. Tone is kinda hard to describe. It may look like it's paying tribute to Vox, but it's more of Laney making a class A amp IMO. IMO, best Laney ever made. I only briefly tried the 5W combo. Sounded good for low volume stuff. I personally own the 20W head version with the 2X12 matching cab. Feel free to ask questions if need be...

Please can expand on why you think the Laney, build quality, features, tone? Or all of this.

I'm a rock and metal kind of guy who will never gig, deciding to take up the guitar aged fortysomething. A sort of house rocker. Laney does sound sweet.

  • @chymist66 Honestly, I would take the Laney...

  • Is all your playing just amp settings and no pedals?

Torn between this, Class 5 Marshall Mk II and the Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister 18 Head with 18 / 5 / 1 watt power soak. Marshall and Laney Class A 5 watts sound v loud. I assume though that the Laney with its Drive volume can get a lot of tube break up at lower volume for the house.

  • did he just say that he will get one for FREE? man... he probably has enough money to BUY it! :D
