Hey i Am looking at the Spedlite 270 EX. At the moment i have no external but just the built in in the 1000d should i buy this flash???

I'm having trouble achieving the rear curtain sync effects that I see here and elsewhere with my canon t2i and speedlite 580exII. Could someone post specific settings for how this works? A video, or photos of the settings screens on the camera and flash would be especially appreciated. The articles and videos I'm finding are extremely vague. Or perhaps I'm not the brightest bulb (harhar)
