http://www.ted.com In this intimate talk filmed at TED's offices, energy theorist Amory Lovins lays out the steps we must take to end the world's dependence on oil (before we run out). Some changes are already happening -- like lighter-weight cars and smarter trucks -- but some require a bigger vision.
TEDTalks is a daily video podcast of the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world's leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. Featured speakers have included Al Gore on climate change, Philippe Starck on design, Jill Bolte Taylor on observing her own stroke, Nicholas Negroponte on One Laptop per Child, Jane Goodall on chimpanzees, Bill Gates on malaria and mosquitoes, Pattie Maes on the "Sixth Sense" wearable tech, and "Lost" producer JJ Abrams on the allure of mystery. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, and TEDTalks cover these topics as well as science, business, development and the arts. Closed captions and translated subtitles in a variety of languages are now available on TED.com, at http://www.ted.com/translate

What's your point? Are you saying oil companies like Exxon Mobil aren't some of the most profitable companies in the world?
According the 2012 Fortune 500 list of most profitable companies, Exxon Mobil & Chevron rank 1 & 2 & they've both been in the top 3 for many years.
These companies make tens of billions in profits each year, routinely pay zero income tax, yet receive billions in subsidies at the same time.
I stand by my statement. Subsidies for these companies is a sad joke.

He says buildings, not "houses". He may be boring, and not good at talking to the lowest common denominator, but he's not wrong.

In “Occupying Chairlifts” a simple rule tweak on inheritance ends up changing the direction and purpose of modern human life! Here’s a fair way to transition forward to where we’re rewarded for cooperating and creating instead of competing and conquering.
It's something specific we can demand. If this isnt the best answer, at least we’re thinking about what might be. Are we really just this close to having it work right?
Oh yeah, it's a Ski movie! “Occupying Chairlifts” on Youtube!

Subsidies are gov lingo for CORPORATE WELFARE!!!
Tax breaks are just keeping more of what you make. We should all be for tax breaks (except for the 2/3 of corporations who don't pay a FIT). And we should all vehemently oppose subsidies.

It would be a shame for you not to get ripped when other normal people are able to burn fat easily using Ultra Slimming Formula (Google it).

Swapping is not hard at all. With standardization and automation it would be quite easy to do.

You have a very valid point, TAP. The charge/swap infrastructure will be the key. Then batteries will become the focus and not come from one source that keeps recycling lead plates. Quality of average auto batteries today is not the same as as the DieHard of yesteryear. That has to change. A friend of mine has an EV Ranger pick-up. Swapping the batteries( 24 of them) was a major undertaking requiring a lift. Range is 40 mi. avg.
