Sean Sullivan - Drum Solo 2008

This is a demo performance for Drum School 101, from the 2008 Drum Circuit Drum Competition. (benefit for SLOCAP child abuse prevention.)

In this performance Sean begins with a "free" intro, stating the themes for the solo out of time. A burst of bop drumming and a buzz roll serves as a transition. Next, he demonstrates soloing over the left foot clave pattern, a 2:3 son clave. Later comes a Brazilian samba variation with fills including a brief 3 against 4 poly-rhythm, climaxing with a cross-over lick on the toms.
