Voltage MultiplierVoltage multipliers are widely used in modern electronic equipment. They are used in television, medical equipment, the measuring technique, namely, oscilloscopes, instruments for measuring the level and doses of radiation, in night vision devices and electro-shock devices, consumer and office electronics, such as ionizers, Chizhevski chandeliers, and copying technique. Voltage multiplier consists of diodes and capacitors joined according to voltage multiplier schemes, which are the AC/DC converters of low alternating voltage into high DC voltage. There are several types of voltage multipliers used in electronics. They are serial and parallel voltage multipliers, and they are more often used in the modern equipment.Let's consider two simple schemes of multipliers - the circuit is of symmetric voltage doubler ... ... and the odd circuit - asymmetric, with triple voltage conversion ....So, there is the simple scheme of a symmetric voltage doubler... .. Let's use 24V AC voltage from the secondary winding of the mains transformer as input voltage for the scheme... .. In this scheme, each capacitor is charged twice in each half-cycle by voltage that passes through the diodes .... As a result, we get 50V of the output DC voltage. The second scheme is the scheme of asymmetric voltage tripler .... It uses 4 capacitors and 3 rectifier diodes.... Each capacitor in this circuit, except the first one, is charged in sequence and therefore the input voltage is tripled, the first capacitor is charged to a nominal input voltage ... .at the output we get - 80B Symmetric schemes have better performance than the asymmetric ones, and, of course, an important advantage of symmetric schemes is that the frequency of pulsation of rectified voltage is doubled.
