Paulina and Jake Tell the Corys They're Back Together

At the Cory Mansion, Paulina insists on talking to Rachel alone while Jake waits outside, but then tries to postpone the inevitable because she feels she's let the family down too many times already. Jake tells her everyone deserves a second chance, assures her she's not a chicken, kisses her on the forehead for luck, and tells her that whatever she chooses to do with her life is her decision. Paulina admits that she wants Rachel's blessing. Jake tells her to go and get it, then. Then he tells her he loves her, and Paulina tells him she loves him too, both saying it and spelling it out by pointing to her eye, her heart, Jake, and then holding up two fingers for "I love you too."

However, Paulina catches Rachel at a very bad time--Rachel has just received flowers from Carl. Rachel angrily says that Carl has proved to her that people don't change, and once someone is unredeemable, they stay that way. Paulina tries to back out, saying if this isn't a good time, she'll come back later, but Rachel insists that Carl will have no effect on this family, and so Paulina just blurts out that she and Jake are back together. A skeptical Rachel says she's heard everything now, and proceeds to play devil's advocate with Paulina, pointing out how miserable Paulina was with Jake before, and telling Paulina that Rachel herself has made some decisions about falling in love that she regrets to this day. Paulina defends Jake and their love, though, telling Rachel that Jake really has changed, and that they're good for each other, and she knows in her heart that he's the man she wants to be with. Meanwhile, Sam and Amanda find Jake waiting outside on the terrace, and he tells them that he and Paulina are back together. Sam congratulates him, then wishes him good luck when Jake says that Paulina is breaking the news to Rachel right now. Jake says it might really help if someone in the family put in a good word for him, so Amanda and Sam try to do so when they and Jake join Paulina and Rachel in the living room. Jake admits his past mistakes with Paulina to Rachel and apologizes for them. Amanda declares that she knows that Paulina and Jake are happy not just for now, as Rachel thinks, but for the long haul. Sam says that every one of them has made mistakes, including him. Paulina says Rachel has forgiven her for so much before, and Rachel says that's entirely different. Jake then asks to speak to Rachel alone. Paulina looks worried but agrees, and she, Sam and Amanda leave the room. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.
