  • why have we not got forces sweethearts nowadays?

  • @djmusicjac Because its all girl groups and sexy boy bands lol lol glad you liked.

  • Thank you welshyM for your wonderful comments, it proves how Gracie could sing and did so very much in WW11 for us all.

  • The text by BearyHairy is a statement of truth THE TRUTH Gracie sang her heart out and worked so hard for the war effort in WW11 thank you for your comment I only deal with fact not gossip and your SPOT ON.

  • My dad, whose 88 years old, remembers service from the US in Wales, UK. He loves Gracie Fields, and I can assure anyone in earshot, that GRACIE FIELDS DIDN'T SELL OUT TO ANYONE. Gracie sang her heart out for UK, Yanks, Aussies, NZ, Canadian, Free French and anyone who fought for the war effort. I'm afraid when the WW II generations leave us through death; crazy people will start screeching WW II, the Holocaust, Battle Of Britain, etc---Never happened! We must stand on vigil for fraud fools!

  • I only knew the George Formby version.

And now I have heard Gracie Fields singing!

She is great singing this song.

    Thanks.

  • This is great. Thank you for posting... My Dad was a war child born in Wales back in the day!

  • I remember my hero RAF uncle saying she sold out to the yanks over this one. But she was 'doing her bit' for the war effort as any Brit can hear. Thanks for this posting.

  • thanks for that one gf.1001 Different words to what we sang when we were kids in the war but will go into my gracie collection
