  • what's the name of the 'song' at 0:17

  • @splash6667 He's playing reveille at that point. The brief pauses that he takes are between the calls for Musicians Call - Reveille - Breakfast Call.

  • Best way to wake your boyfriend up at 4am when he should be talking to you instead of sleeping :)

  • Now, that's funny!

  • triple tonguing at 0:28? amazing

  • That was great. A blast from the past. Thanks for posting! :)

  • A radio station I used to listen to played Revelle every morning at 7:am.

  • Time for eggs & hash at the mess hall! Mmm mmm good!

  • He's indeed playing pre-civil war calls for: Infantry Musicians Call, then Infantry & Artillery Reveille, followed by Cavalry and Artillery Breakfast Call. It's an odd mix. But then, Cavalry (or Dragoon) Reveille is a much longer call, not the easiest to play on a cold morning.

  • reveille brings back some bad memories

  • @cwengineer

Yes, you seem to be correct. Its for Artillery or mounted troops. I have read many accounts of buglers using calls not in their regulations because the unit liked it. This was just a "hey come play something for this new camera" thing one morning that turned into wow! look at all the people who are interested in this. We plan to post many more calls soon.

  • The uniform appears to be Seminole War period (mid 1830's) , and his "Breakfast Call" wasn't used by the Infantry untill after 1868, when Emory Upton rewrote the Tactics Manual and Truman Seymour consolidated the bugle calls. For the period shown, this would have been for the Artillery.
