Obama mispronounces Wesleyan University

He was alluding to an inside joke that a graduating senior had stated prior.

Like the person who put up this video, I was in attendance at today's ceremony. Unlike the person who put up this video-who is clearly either a moron or a partisan looking to portray this as a gaffe--I paid attention to the fact that the PRESIDENT OF THE UNIVERSITY and the VALEDICTORIAN both made jokes about confusing the schools' names prior to Obama doing the same. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news poster, but IT'S A JOKE and A NON-ISSUE.

I was there. He did it on purpose. It was a joke.

People are so fast to find something negative to say about Obama! I love it...idiots make fools out of themselves with stupid attempts...I say just get ready to call him Mr. President and stop with all the hating!

if you are a wesleyan student or alum, you would understand that it is a joke referencing the confusion that is often made between the two schools by outsiders. fox news even reported a few days ago that obama was speaking at 'hillary's alma mater,' or wellesly college! the class of 2008 made a similar joke not minutes earlier in the commencement. i was there, everybody got it.

I'm also a Wesleyan Alum and was there today in support of friends who were graduating. IT WAS A JOKE. He MEANT to say "Wellesley" (which is exactly what he said) to reference an earlier joke that the class president made in her speech concerning people confusing Wesleyan and Wellesley. It was pretty perfect - everyone laughed and instantly got it. It was completely relevant and witty. I'd expect nothing less from a speaker of this quality.

I'm a Wesleyan alum and I watched the ceremony on a live stream today. It was a joke we all got and it referenced a joke that the class president had made earlier in the ceremony. The joke is not so inside that you can't get it though. People often confuse the names Wesleyan and Wellesley. The reason why it's extra funny right now is that Wellesley happens to be the school that Hillary Clinton went to and many bloggers mistakenly reported Obama was speaking at Hilary's alma mater.
