@CVargas well i do know a lot about blues, and i can't call this blues, i would say it is jazz or something, i don't know that much about jazz though
-
@olifantgamer Well, you seem to be an expert, so what would you call it?
-
@arineido Play the score slower on a piano, you will here blues.
-
is there singing?
-
"Memphis Blues", written 1909, published 1912. Although usually subtitled "Boss Crump", it is a distinct song from Handy's campaign satire, "Boss Crump don't 'low no easy riders around here", which was based on the good-time song "Mamma Don't Allow It."
-
He definitely was not the father of blues but a pioneer. A very important icon in the evolution from blues to jazz.
-
This does not sound like "blues" if I can say so myself..
-
well, it sounds kinda funny but i can't call this no blues
-

Handy certainly did not perform in the Victor Military Band, which was an all-white studio organization. He did record for Columbia in 1917 with an orchestra of black Memphis & Chicago musicians, check Handy's Orchestra of Memphis on youtube

@robchalfen
You are correct. I made a mistake, the mp3 was recorded by the Victor Military Band though.
Sorry about that everyone!
