The real comparison would be Meryl Streep, Emma Thompson, Cate Blanchett (etc.), not to mention Judi Dench and THOUSANDS of other actors!
As a matter of fact, I don't think the old Hollywood had SO many so talented actors as we have.

On the other hand, they had unsavoury starlets galore, too... -:)
