Don't be intimidated by bobbles! They're easy to make, plus they add great texture to whatever garment you work them into. In this tutorial you'll learn how to knit the anemone bobble, which will create tiny, donut-shaped circles in your work. You'll love the results when you incorporate this stitch into afghans and scarves!

  • answer from Rebecca that I found on her ChemKnits site :

The pattern is written in the round. To adjust it to straight needles, you would have to take one of the bobble rounds and switch the knits to purls. I would personally take round 1 and purl with double wraps, and then proceed with round two as directed. then at the end, you will have to sew a seam.

  • NattysRose: Thanks so much for trying to help me out with this. I knit often so I know how to switch back and forth from knitting to purling; but, there is just something about this stitch that I am having trouble with. One of these days, it will just come to me, and I'll feel like more of a dummy than I already do. I'd still like someone to explain what you have to do differently on a flat piece instead of in the round. Thanks again for trying!!

  • DancingFeather04: I had the hardest time learning how to do a rib stitch because I didn't know what to do with the yarn. This video explains it perfectly. I think after you watch it, you will be able to do this bobble stitch.

    Good luck

  • It would really be nice if someone would take the time to answer the comments that are left on here. I'm still waiting to hear what you have to do differently on a flat piece of work.

  • Okay, you make this look SO easy on the video, so I thought I could pick up this stitch easily, but nooooo! I do fine with the first row, but I can't get the hang of k4, p4, k4, p4 in the second row. You're going so fast, I can't follow where the yarn goes on each step. After trying to start and stop the video about a hundred times, I am now going to give my headache some drugs and put it to rest for the night. I can't seem to find a link to you on allfreeknitting either. Help!

  • WOW! I can't wait to try this! I wanted to make some cool sleeves for a baby sweater!

  • Rebecca, I love the look of this stitch! You said that you need to do things a little differently if you're working on a flat panel. Could you please elaborate on that for me? I'm thinking I'd like to make a single-layer scarf with some really great yarn I have. Thanks so much for your tutorials - they are so clear and concise!

  • Thank you for posting this video. I'm always afraid to try something new and with this video, I'm going to try this the anemone stitch. It's wonderful that you are so talented and that you have the ability to share this talent with others. THANK YOU so much!!!
