Carrie is 29‐years old and has been on PD for six years. She started PD at 23, right after graduating from college. Having kidney disease has not stood in the way of Carrie's dream. Because of the control she has over her schedule by doing peritoneal dialysis at home, she is able to work full‐time and go to school to get her bachelor's degree. Carrie says she wants to design dialysis clinics and health care clinics because "I want to make healthcare not so scary to everyone." Carrie also says with peritoneal dialysis at home "you feel in control of your life, which is probably something you didn't feel initially when you were diagnosed."

  • Carrie comes off very well in discussing how PD has impacted her life in providing her the ability to pursue her career without her therapy being a limiting factor.
