Youthville's Newton PRTF offers a unique treatment program called the Expressive Arts Center (EAC). This program incorporates art, music and drama into the children's daily schedule to provide an outlet to express their emotions and issues.
One child who has benefitted greatly from the EAC is a boy by the name of Keiyante. During his first time in the EAC's music room, youth care worker Yenikah Fon, noticed Keiyante sit down at the drum set. Yenikah was amazed at his talent. This started a special friendship between the two and it became part Keyiante's therapy.
In May 2010, after living at the PRTF for more than a year, Keiyante was successfully discharged to a new foster home. Through special funding and with permission from his new foster parents, Youthville was able to purchase a drum set for Keiyante to take with him so that he may continue his therapy through music.
