Our Mals do exactly the same. But if our older one sees that the bowl is full to the brim, she sticks her whole muzzle in and blows bubbles. She then comes in and drops her sodden face in your lap, just in case you didn`t hear blowing bubbles.
Or she digs to the center of the earth, through her bowl.

my 235lbs mute moose does the exact same thing with his water bowl, a home depot bucket, my mute bear like to drink while on the floor
