    Drivers like J.D., Ronnie Thomas, Baxter Price, Frank Warren, Blackie Wangerin, Jimmy Means, D.K. Ulrich, and James Hylton were called the Saddle Tramps of NASCAR. They didn't have any decent sponsorship and literally went week to week on their meager salaries putting together what they could. Only a few, like Bill Elliot, managed to break this cycle.

    your friend died doing what he loved...the other week a friend of mine took his life by gunshot, today dick trickle took his life by gunshot...if anything at least JD died doing what he loved...he is greatly missed by true nascar fans

    Jimmy "Smut" Means is from here in Huntsville, AL. I wouldn't call him a local legend but during the 90's he was well known here because he did race in the Winston Cup Series. He did finish some races though I suppose that says something.
