Wow everyone who talked about The Little Mermaid in this video was absolutely 110% right, I mean who cant say that The Little Mermaid (as well as Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King) havent stood the test of time? Actually every disney movie made in the Disney Renaissance era (also known as late 80's early 90s) was a classic. I say fuck 3D give me 2D animation, it is way better! And give me back old Disney not this Teen Crap with Hannah Montana or Jonas Brothers or w/e

I had a tape of Mickey's Christmas Carol from Cincinnati WCPO Channel 9 (back when it was a CBS afficilate) from 1995 where it had a sneak peek behind the scenes featurette of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. And before MCC it had "Winnie the Poh and Christmas Too" with The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh episode "The Magic Earmuffs"

@TherealRNO Well, no but I think Disney doesn't need to change the story if it is something like Pocahontas or Hercules, or The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Where has those old-fashioned classics I grew up with gone to now? Now all I see on Disney channel are soap opera type reality TV shows about hot chicks and bungling awkward teen guys.

@jshweid Disney Channel aired a Great Expectations mini-series once. It was really well done!

I loved this movie as a kid (and still do). Thank you so much for sharing this!!

Wonderful!
Well, how about disney animating from the Phantom of the Opera book by Gaston Leroux, or other Dickens stories like Great Expectations, or giving Donald Duck his own movie, or maybe a Dumbo sequel? Or an anthology of cases with the Great Mouse Detective? There's plenty of inspiration out there, but all they care about is making money and catering to drooling toddlers or drooling pre-teens.

So much drooling...

@jshweid The only issue with your idea, is that..well how do I say? Disney has always BEEN for the kids! Snow White was 'Disneyfied' and made so that kids could watch what was once a Grimm's fairytale. So while your ideas for adaptaions are interesting ideas, please tell me how the Phantom killing people, simply to cause fear, can be made for kids? At the same time, any sequels are usually called money grabs. So no matter what they do, they'll be making money from the drooling teens and toddlers

@Pythonfreak88 The idea that Disney (And animation in general) has always been for kids is a false statement, and woefully ignorant of popular culture during the first half of the 20th century. Cartoons played in front of every feature film, along with newsreels and other short subjects. Everyone watched them. The only forms of entertainment produced primarily for children were radio/movie serials and comic books. Disney is a household name primarily because they appealed to all audiences.
