Thanks for that Bob. I keep forgetting that it's not about what is actually the best movie, but which movie can be cajolled into being the biggest grosser, and that would be unlikely to happen with a 'gay' themed picture. Sad, though. I still think it was just so beautifully constructed and deserved better.

The "Obvious Reason" in this case is the real reason..it was a "love Story" about 2 men that didn't fit into Hollywoods tight little sterotype of Decorators, Hair Dressers, Drag Queens etc. which is the usual way Hollywood depicts "Gays".

The Huge Success of this type of Movie about 2 Rugged MEN falling deeply in love scared the Sh*t out of Hollywood Exc. & Blue Collar union workers.

Remember on Best Picture ALL Academy members get to vote & 40% wouldn't even watch the film-Bob
