  • This play ran for many years until it was retired about two years ago. The same screenwriter created a new Sherlock Holmes play for Roger to perform. The new play is called The Death and Life of Sherlock Holmes. Roger brought the new play to the USA for a limited run in perhaps a few cities. From what I hear the new play is doing as well as the original. As I recall the play ran for about 90 minutes. You can ask Roger at: thelastact@hotmail.co.uk

  • Terrific to get the chance to see Roger Llewellyn's highly praised performance. This looks professionally produced. Is the play available on DVD somewhere?

  • Thanks! This video was produced and filmed by yours truly 'worldromer.'

  • I should have added that sadly the show, to my knowledge, is not available on video.

  • Favourite Stage Sherlock Holmes: Roger Llewellyn

Favourite Screen Sherlock Holmes: Jeremy Brett

  • Jeremy Brett will always be Sherlock Holmes to me, however Roger Llewellyn looks extremely good as Holmes in later life, and shows a flambouyant style reminisent of Jeremy's portrayal. With the top hat and frock coat he looked a lot like him. I would love to see this play. I have read the script of The Last Act which was published by Calabash Press and thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • What is the running time of this play? Looks terrific

  • He has an exactly same accent as Jeremy!

I wish he'd live long & known as a human cultural asset.

  • going to see this show of Roger's tomorrow night, it looks amazing and Roger is an amazing man, as well as an amazing actor

  • Very Brechtian Feel play........which I think this makes us think more than feel

  • @Kyousuke687 HI, I don't think this is availlable in DVD but it has been release at the end of the 2009 by Big Finish audiobook. This is the audio of the play. I bought it and it's a pure pleasure to listening to it. I would really like to see it live on stage. If you need more info just contact me.

  • It was a great play.

  • Saw Roger this evening at the Palace Theatre, Newark (Feb 27 2010). I am a volunteer usher, and see most productions at our beautiful theatre. Roger's performance was the best non musical event that I have seen this year. I would even pay to see it again !!!. Truly, an enjoyable, beautifully acted one man show which deserves a wider audience.

  • Does anyone know if this is available on DVD or something, somewhere? I would buy it in a heartbeat. I live in NY, so I doubt I would ever get to see a showing of this.
