In our July 2009 Behind the Lens column we reported on a unique open brief given to photographer Tim Georgeson by communications agency KesselsKramer.
KesselsKramer enlisted Georgeson to shoot ads for Ben, a Dutch, sim-card-only mobile phone brand owned by T-Mobile. The agency focused on authentic imagery that conveys a sense of freedom. "You are free to come and free to go," KesselsKramer principal Erik Kessels told PDN of the brand message. "The ads are very imagery based and they just say 'Greetings from Ben.' They're almost like postcards that just give you a mood or emotion."
KesselsKramer asked Georgeson to shoot and deliver reportage-style images for the campaign on a rolling basis so they could refresh the imagery. Recently the brief expanded to include motion content, which KesselsKramer is using for Bens online campaigns.
Georgeson just finished his first video and, as with his still images, will continue shooting motion for KesselsKramer and Ben on a rolling basis over the coming year.
